Preethi Sekharan is an associate with the Firm. She concentrates her practice in the areas of business and complex commercial litigation, probate litigation, intellectual property and trade secret disputes, and non-compete and contract disputes with an emphasis on the representation of medical professionals, hospitals and health care organizations. She has represented both individuals and businesses in a variety of matters, including non-compete and restrictive covenant litigation, breach of contract and collection matters, trademark and trade secret disputes. Ms. Sekharan obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, with minors in Chemistry and Physics from Judson College.  She went on to obtain a Masters in Public Health with concentrations in Maternal-Fetal Health and Tropical Medicine from Tulane University. In 2001, Ms. Sekharan earned her Juris Doctor from New York Law School and was admitted to the New York and Florida Bars in 2002 and 2004, respectively. While in law school, Ms. Sekharan served as a law clerk for the Honorable Edward H. Lehner of the Supreme Court of New York, as a legal intern with the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York, and as a Teaching Assistant and Research Assistant to Professors Paul Dubinsky and Sadiq Reza, respectively. After graduating from law school, Ms. Sekharan joined Amster, Rothstein & Ebenstein, an intellectual property law boutique in Manhattan, where she worked in the patent litigation division before relocating to Florida and joining Page, Mrachek, Fitzgerald & Rose, P.A. in 2003.

Preethi is active member of both the Martin and Palm Beach County legal and business communities. She is an Executive Board Member of the Justice Major B. Harding American Inn of Court, as well as the Treasure Coast Chapter of Florida’s Association of Women Lawyers.  She also serves as a Board Member on the Martin County Chapter of the American Red Cross, and as Vice-President on the Historical Society of Florida’s Fourth District Court of Appeal. Recently, Preethi was named a “Rising Star” by Florida SuperLawyers magazine in the area of Business Litigation.  Preethi is the Immediate Past President of the Martin County Bar Association, where her efforts succeeded in bringing the Association to its largest membership in its history.  A two-time ski diver, Preethi enjoys taking on new challenges.  When not representing the Firm’s clients, Preethi enjoys traveling and training for her next sprint triathlon.

Representative Experience

  • Represented national pharmaceutical companies in both state and federal proceedings concerning intellectual property (patent and trademark infringement) and trade secrets disputes, and licensing disputes.
  • Routinely represents clients in business disputes involving shareholder, corporate dissolutions and non-compete provisions.
  • Represents Firm clients in probate and trust disputes throughout Florida, including national and local charitable foundations involved in probate and trust disputes.
  • Successfully represented foreign international company in multi-million dollar contract, licensing, and intellectual property dispute in federal court.
  • Represented national athletic company in multi-million dollar patent and trade secrets dispute.
  • Involved in successful prosecution of claims on behalf of one of the largest cement companies in the United States in state environmental litigation involving groundwater contamination.
